About the Project

Develop UK were appointed by Kings College London to convert an existing engineering workshop into office facilities to allow the relocation of various estates teams within the Guys and St. Thomas’ campus.

Develop completed the refurbishment and were engaged from inception to completion dealing with all aspects of the Project. Following strip out of all existing finishes the existing building was subjected to extensive structural alterations and repairs to ensure defective brickwork arches were structurally sound prior to refurbishment. Develop installed and fit out the entire building with new BMS equipment, lighting, heating and cooling systems to all soft furnishings and office equipment.

Project Challenges

Develop were requested to provide proposals and specifications for all fit out items within the refurbished area. Develop undertook the responsibility of technical submissions and coordinating design in order to deliver the building to the standard requested by the Client. The location of the site presented numerous challenges, not least logistical constraints with wait and load deliveries and removals only.

The building backed onto vibration and noise sensitive buildings, the impact of our works on these surrounding buildings had to be managed effectively in order to cause as little disturbance as possible. Reporting directly to our Client, KCL throughout the Project, Develop delivered this JCT Intermediate Form of Contract on time and on budget.
